Svadhyaya is a place to study and reflect, and some of what you write here is personal. This page explains what we collect, why, and what you can do about it. The short version: we collect only what the app needs, we never sell your data, there are no ads, and your journal stays private.

What we collect

We don’t collect your date of birth, your contacts, or your location beyond your time zone.

How we use it

Your journal

Journal entries are encrypted before they’re stored, with a key kept separately from the database. Nobody at Svadhyaya browses them, and they are never sent to an AI model or used for analytics. They’re shown only to you.

Mitra

Mitra is an AI guide. When you ask it something, your question and the earlier messages in that conversation are sent to OpenAI to generate the answer. Under OpenAI’s API terms, that data isn’t used to train their models. We keep your conversations so you can look back at them. If you report one of Mitra’s answers, we see that answer and the question before it, so we can fix what went wrong.

Who else handles your data

They handle your data only to provide their service to us, and some of them may store it outside India. We don’t sell your data, and we don’t share it with advertisers.

Cookies

We use cookies only to keep you signed in. There are no advertising or tracking cookies.

Your choices and rights

If you’re in India, you also have rights under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, including the right to have a complaint addressed. Write to [contact email] and we’ll get back to you.

Age

Svadhyaya is for people 18 and over. We don’t knowingly collect data from anyone younger. If you think a child has signed up, write to us and we’ll delete the account.

Changes

If we change this policy in a way that matters, we’ll email you before the change takes effect.
